Find out where the fog is
A foggy window does not always require the same work. Start with one question: is the moisture on an accessible surface or inside the glazing? Without taking the window apart, wipe the accessible indoor surface and see what remains. A photograph from an angle can help show the affected area.
On the surface or between the panes
Natural Resources Canada distinguishes surface condensation from condensation between panes caused by a failed sealed-unit seal. In the latter case, replacing the insulating glass unit is indicated. This observation alone does not mean the entire frame needs replacement.

A sealed unit is the assembled insulating glass. The frame and opening hardware are separate components. Mention difficult operation, water infiltration or broken hardware as well: these issues should be assessed separately from fogging.

Photograph the whole window and the foggy area. State how many panes are affected, which room they are in and your town. Approximate measurements help describe the project; they are not glass-ordering dimensions. Final measurements and the proposed solution are confirmed on site.
